The time has finally come! Meta Pool is officially going to be launching Liquid Staking for Ethereum via the SSV Network later this year. This shift will allow the value of Meta Pool’s Liquid Staking products to expand across ecosystems and service the web3 community in an even larger way. While we are beginning to develop for a new chain, our NEAR users have nothing to fear. We will continue to provide top tier liquid staking services on NEAR while we begin to bring our products to Ethereum. We’ll break down exactly why we are moving to Ethereum via SSV, what that means for our NEAR users, and what you can expect from us moving forward.

The Move to SSV Network

We have been planning to expand to the Ethereum network for some time. We believe that interchain dapps will be the future of providing all web3 community members with the tools they need to effectively manage their crypto. This being said, we need to explain our decision to move to SSV Network specifically.

When Meta Pool launched on NEAR Protocol and Aurora, our design was centered around the idea that secure liquid staking can be run under a DAO. We believe that SSV Network has the necessary technology that will enable us to focus on the governance of staking and leverage their system of validators for how it allocates the delegation and interacts with different nodes on the ETH PoS network.

This move is a critically important step in our goal of building a decentralized and secure multichain future. SSV Network is a leader in validator technology building toward this goal. SSV stands for Secret Shared Validators, and allows trustless nodes to operate by sharing keys. This has wide reaching implications for not only the decentralization of Ethereum, but also the scalability and governance of the chain.

This move is certainly a real challenge for our team, but we are committed to building a multi chain future. Our partnership with SSV has come after careful consideration of the best technological partner, and we are confident that SSV gives us all the tools we need to continue serving our users in the best way possible.

Meta Pool's Multi Chain Future

We want to emphasize with extreme clarity that nothing will change in our current operations on the NEAR network. We have been committed to providing a liquid staking solution that promotes decentralization and frees capital in the ecosystem  – and we will continue doing exactly that. Our move to the SSV network is intended as an extension of our current efforts.

As we finalize details about liquidity, validators, and much more, we will be releasing more information about our roadmap in 2023. Please keep an eye on all our socials to learn more about our progress towards launching on SSV Network!

About Meta Pool & stNEAR

Meta Pool is the leading liquid staking solution for $NEAR and wNEAR token holders. With Meta Pool you earn NEAR staking rewards and maintain your liquidity to participate in DeFi protocols on NEAR and Aurora.

Users staking $NEAR and wNEAR with Meta Pool receive in exchange stNEAR (staked NEAR) tokens.

stNEAR simultaneously accrues staking rewards and unlocks users’ liquidity enabling them to participate in DeFi activities (e.g. lending, farming, borrowing) on NEAR and Aurora.

Meta Pool also solves the problems associated with Proof-of-Stake networks staking: illiquidity, immovability and accessibility. Meta Pool also aims to distribute staking in multiple validators to improve censorship-resistance of the NEAR network.

With a TVL of ~9 Million $NEAR and growing, Meta Pool has become in just a few months a cornerstone element of the NEAR ecosystem. Meta Pool is making NEAR Protocol more decentralized and therefore more secure.

In February 2022 Meta Pool has been successfully audited by BlockSec, confirming the implementation of the highest security standards.
