- ETH Devcon wrapped up last week after an amazing group of presentations from key NEAR ecosystem players
- The NEAR space side event was a huge success, and we recap key points from speakers from different projects
- An outline on Meta Pool’s ethos for building looking forward
We had so much fun attending Devcon 2022 in Bogota last week. This event brought together leaders, developers and degens from all across Latin America to talk about all things web3. The NEAR Space, hosted by Meta Pool and our partners Aurora, IOSG Ventures, Fabric Ventures, and Pagoda, was a great showcase of the Aurora EVM – a platform where ETH builders can access the speed and scalability of the NEAR Network.
Highlights from Devcon 2022
This year’s panel of speakers was a star-studded lineup who delivered incredible talks. The conference was amazing and the city was beautiful, there was no bear market in Bogotà! The conference had 4 days full of panels and talks from big names.
During the conference, there was a clear focus on Spanish speaking speakers with ETHLATAM kicking off the week with presentations from Vitalik Buterin discussing how anyone can contribute to a blockchain protocol. As an ecosystem we can relate to how on-chain communities have grown in the Aurora and NEAR Protocol spaces focusing on diversity of backgrounds and skills to contribute to our ecosystem, the NEAR University initiative did an excellent job of kickstarting this in Latin America.
It was so nice to meet with other Latin American teams and connect with people from all over the crypto ecosystem.
The NEAR Space at Devcon 2022
Meta Pool was honored to sponsor the NEAR SpaceDevcon side event, which was a great success thanks to our cosponsors Pagoda and Aurora.
Builders from all over the ETH ecosystem were brought together to experience the speed and scalability of the NEAR network through the Aurora EVM. Meta Pool is excited to welcome all builders we met last week to the NEAR ecosystem so we can build together.
One of the highlights of the event was Nativo NFT presenting their marketplace solution, coming from the city of Tepic in the South Pacific coast of Mexico.
Alex Shevchenko did a great job of presenting the highlights of Aurora+ and what we can expect from their EVM solution. Answered some questions around the scalability issue that EVM´s are facing and also how the platform avoids spam bots, with a very insightful answer – you do not allow airdrop of tokens with their platform. You decentivize spam on the platform, bad actors will always find a way, in Aurora that is cut from the root.
If you couldn’t make it to the NEAR Space, you can learn more about how to easily bridge your project to NEAR through the Aurora EVM. NEAR is set to deploy the first step of its sharding mechanism and introduce chuck-only validators soon; the time has never been better to join the NEAR ecosystem!
What's Next for Meta Pool
As the validator ecosystem in NEAR changes with the advent of sharding, the role of liquid-staking protocols like Meta Pool will have to adapt. As more validators enter the network, the diversity and decentralization of the network will improve. As a major delegator of tokens, Meta Pool will be changing the way we delegate with this new inflow of validators.
Meta Pool believes that decentralization and a community lead product are crucial to the success of any project, motivating us to release Meta Vote for validators. Through this platform users and validators themselves can vote for themselves to receive additional delegation from Meta Pool; we are letting the community decide how best to protect the network. For more on how our team is focusing on building products for the community, read here.
About Meta Pool & stNEAR
Meta Pool is the leading liquid staking solution for $NEAR and wNEAR token holders. With Meta Pool you earn NEAR staking rewards and maintain your liquidity to participate in DeFi protocols on NEAR and Aurora.
Users staking $NEAR and wNEAR with Meta Pool receive in exchange stNEAR (staked NEAR) tokens.
stNEAR simultaneously accrues staking rewards and unlocks users’ liquidity enabling them to participate in DeFi activities (e.g. lending, farming, borrowing) on NEAR and Aurora.

Meta Pool also solves the problems associated with Proof-of-Stake networks staking: illiquidity, immovability and accessibility. Meta Pool also aims to distribute staking in multiple validators to improve censorship-resistance of the NEAR network.
With a TVL of ~9 Million $NEAR and growing, Meta Pool has become in just a few months a cornerstone element of the NEAR ecosystem. Meta Pool is making NEAR Protocol more decentralized and therefore more secure.
In February 2022 Meta Pool has been successfully audited by BlockSec, confirming the implementation of the highest security standards.
